The CV MARQ Foundation has inaugurated this morning at the Museum of Huelva the exhibition 'Idols. Millenary gazes'.The exhibition, which commemorates the Andalusian museum's half-century of existence and in which leading museums in Portugal have also collaborated.
The Deputy for Culture, Juan de Dios NavarroThe exhibition "strengthens the international collaboration between renowned cultural centres to offer a unique exhibition to showcase our archaeological and monumental heritage and highlight the common past between Spain and Portugal", he said. In addition, according to the deputy, 'Idols' presents in Huelva "the line of exhibition work led by the MARQ, adapted to people with different abilities, with outstanding interactive additions and an approach aimed at all audiences".
The proposal curated by the professor of Prehistory at the University of Alcalá, Primitiva Bueno, y by the Director of Exhibitions at MARQ and director of the MUBAG, Jorge A. Soler, ha consolidated an example of institutional collaboration between Portugal and Spain, with the participation of the Diputación de Alicante and Junta de Andalucía. The inauguration was also attended by the Andalusian Regional Minister of Tourism, Arturo Bernal and the mayoress of Huelva, Pilar Mirandatogether with the managing director of the Fundación CV MARQ José Alberto Cortés.
The exhibition includes funds from the Huelva museum itself and from seven portuguese collections from the Museu Nacional de Arqueologia de Portugal, Perdigões, ERA Arqueologia SA Collection, Museu Geológico, Museu de Portimão, Museu Municipal Lonel Trindade, Museu de Arqueologia e Etnografia do Distrito de Setúlba and Museu do Carmo, as well as new content on the most modern archaeological interventions carried out in the province of Huelva.
Idols' opens to the public in January 2020 at MARQ and was later installed in the MAR in Alcalá de Henares and in the National Museum of Archaeology in Portugal. Over the next six monthswill offer in the Museum of Huelva the possibility of approaching in a suggestive way to singular pieces of the Prehistory through a rich, varied and expressive set of pieces.
