The President of the Diputación de Alicante, Toni PérezHe described the results obtained as "extraordinary" and highlighted the effort and dedication of all the museum's staff "who, for yet another year, have managed to offer a wide-ranging, attractive and first-class cultural proposal".
The international exhibition 'The Legacy of the Qin and Han Dynasties, China. The Terracotta Warriors of Xi'an' has undoubtedly been the main protagonist of this 2023, since its inauguration last March. has brought together 245,306 peoplebecoming in the most visited temporary exhibition in the history of the centre.
To these record figures has also contributed to the extensive and varied programme carried out both in the museum and in its monuments and archaeological sites. and which has included activities for children, conferences, dramatised visits and guided tours, among other proposals.
"The success of MARQ cannot be measured only by the number of visitors, as its role as a cultural dynamo in our province goes much further, but there is no doubt that having such a large public response is an immense joy," said Pérez.
By month, August, November, July, December and June were, in that order, the ones that attracted the greatest number of people, with registrations in excess of 25,000 people. The month of January is also expected to be a success in terms of attendance, coinciding with the closing of the exhibition of The Xi'an Warriors next Sunday 28th.
Archaeological sites
The sites and monuments that are part of the MARQ management network have also achieved excellent records throughout 2023. In this sense, the Illeta dels Banyetsin El Campello, has closed the year with 16,549 visits, the Tossal de Manisesin Alicante, with 10.422, the Almudaina Tower with 1.604, on Pla de Petracosin Castell de Castells, with 843 and the Cova de l'Orin Beniarrés, with 727.
"If we add to these figures those obtained in the travelling exhibitions that have travelled around the province and the country, such as the recently inaugurated exhibition 'Idols. Miradas Milenarias', which is on display at the Museum of Huelva, we would be talking about figures in excess of half a million visitors", concluded the president.
