The MARQ exhibition The Legacy of the Qin and Han Dynasties, China. The Warriors of Xi'an'. has been awarded the 'Golden Emporia', the highest recognition of the National Awards for Ephemeral Architecture Emporia 2023The awards were presented at a gala event held this week at the Espacio IBERCAJA in Madrid.
As the deputy for Culture pointed out, Juan de Dios NavarroThe exhibition, "the most visited exhibition in the history of the Archaeological Museum, with more than 280,000 entries registered in ten months of exhibition, never ceases to give us satisfaction at all levels and this award reaffirms that the effort and commitment made by the Diputación de Alicante to make a project of these dimensions a reality has been worthwhile". The exhibition organised by the provincial institution, through the CV MARQ Foundation and the MARQThe project also counted on the collaboration of the following foundations ASISA and La CAIXA.
This new recognition, collected in Madrid by the manager of the CV-MARQ Foundation, José Alberto CortésThe award is in addition to those already received by the Association of Museologists and Museographers of Andalusia (AMMA) with the runner-up prize in the EXPONE 2023 Awards, in the category of the best national exhibition project; to that of Alicantinos del Año 2023, by the newspaper All of Alicante and the Cope-Alicante 2023 Awards Special, which will be joined by the Important November-2023 Award of the Diario Información newspaper, to be presented on 15 February.
The Emporia 2023 awards recognise the creativity, innovation and excellence in Temporary/Temporary Structures In the case of the warriors of Xi'an, the jury particularly valued the staging of the terracotta sculptures displayed in circular glass capsules with a mirrored roof. Cortés explained that "this system has allowed the public to enjoy a unique experience in a direct tour of these terracotta pieces, a world heritage site, with a 360º view, getting closer to the details, polychromies, hair, clothing and faces of these mythical figures, created more than two thousand two hundred years ago to accompany the First Emperor Qin in his transit to the afterlife and which today are so attractive to us".
The Emporia Awards are the most prestigious national awards for the design of ephemeral structures and are organised by the Association of Interior Designers and Decorators of Catalonia and Veredictas International, with the support of the General Council of Official Associations of Interior Decorators and Designers of Spain, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the ETSAB of Barcelona, the Association of Tents and Temporary Installations, the Association of Spanish Trade Fairs (AFE), the FEFIC, the Association of Associated Spanish Event Agencies and the Barcelona Marketing Club.
