On 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10 March, with women as the protagonists from a historical perspective Talks, workshops and animated visits at the MARQ to celebrate International Women's Day

 

The MARQ CV Foundation joins the celebration of International Women's Day 2024 with a programme of activities with talks, workshops and visits to the temporary galleries of the MARQ, which will focus on women from a historical perspective.

With the slogan "Investing in women, accelerating progress".On 8 March, International Women's Day is celebrated and to commemorate it, thehe Diputación de Alicante, through the Fundación CV MARQ and its Didactics, Accessibility, Club Llumiq and Social Responsibility Unit, has designed various activities. Thus, visitors who come to the MARQ on March 8th will be able to learn about the role played by women throughout history, through an exhibition on the role of women in history. Interactive QR with questions that will take you through the different rooms of the Museum's permanent collection, focusing on the role of women throughout history.  

The days with specific programming are 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10 March. The first of these, on 5 March, will be onn the Hospital General de Alicante and as part of the project A fairytale hospital which is carried out with the Unidad Pedagógica Hospitalaria del Hospital General Universitario de Alicante Doctor Balmis for hospitalised children, will be held the workshop OCU Talent. An activity to show what daily life would have been like in prehistoric times and whose aim is to promote the values of women's work and the importance of women in the development of our societies.

On 6 March and in the Fontcalent Penitentiary Centre in Alicante, will take place the Talk on the legacies of the MARQ, with which we will present the material record on display in the Museum's permanent collections related to the social role of women. This activity is part of the project Return with a new story which is taught in the Alicante Penitentiary Centre.

On Thursday 7 March, at the APSA-Alicante Training Centre and as part of the project History without barriers MARQ-APSAIn the case of theharla The women in Roman timesin which we will talk about the role of women in Roman society.

The 8 March at the MARQ, a talk is scheduled to take place Behind the Veils of History: The Great Monarchs of the Pastwhere we will take a short tour through some of the most important queens in history. A activity that will take place in the MARQ Meeting Room, as part of the project MARQ + 65 we carry out with Aulas de la Tercera Edad (ASAUTE) in Alicante.

And on the same day, at the La Illeta dels Banyets archaeological site in El Campello, Discovering our ancestors. Activity consisting of an excavation workshop for schoolchildren. Participants will also learn about the role of archaeology in gender studies. It will require the concertification prior to the visit.

To finish on Sunday 10 March with an animated visit to the Prehistory room and a workshop on cave painting, in which participants will be able to find out what daily life was like in prehistoric times with Cavernus. During the activity we will show the importance that women have had in the development of our societies and we will finish with an educational workshop on cave painting.  One aFree activity aimed at families with children between 5 and 10 years old. Registration can be made by telephone and at the MARQ ticket offices.
