The Scientific, Literary and Artistic Athenaeum of Alicante awards the CV MARQ Foundation the distinction Placa de Honor for the international exhibition on the warriors of Xi'an.

 

The vice-president of the Fundación CV MARQ and deputy of Culture of the Diputación de Alicante, Juan de Dios Navarro Caballero, has received the Plaque of Honour 2024 that the Scientific, Literary and Artistic Athenaeum of Alicante awards to the MARQ for the realisation of the International Exhibition, The Legacy of the Qin and Han Dynasties, China. The Warriors of Xi'an, during the 23rd edition of the Culture Gala, held at the Teatro Principal in Alicante.

In his speech of thanks, Juan de Dios Navarro declared that "it is an honour to receive this award on behalf of the President of the Diputación de Alicante, Toni Pérez, and I would like to thank him and Carlos Mazón for the trust they have placed in me by allowing me to act as Head of Culture for the Diputación, and I extend my thanks to all the trustees of the MARQ, and to all the staff in their service, for their support, dedication and constant work. I dedicate this Award to them".

For Juan de Dios Navarro, "this award and all the recognition received so far are the result of a job well done by all the people who every day make wonderful things like this happen in Alicante, that of imagining and making an exhibition such as that of the terracotta warriors of Xi'an at the MARQ a reality, an object of enjoyment and pride for all the people of Alicante and the more than 280,000 visitors who have accompanied us from March 2023 to January 2024".

The recognition of this exhibition on the Terracotta Warriors of Xi'an adds to those already received. by the Association of Museologists and Museographers of Andalusia (AMMA) with the runner-up prize at the EXPO 2023in the category for the best national exhibition project; to that of Alicantinos del Año 2023by the newspaper All of Alicante; al Cope-Alicante Awards Special 2023; the Important from November-2023 from Diario Información, and the most recent, with the gold in the Design Awards for Ephemeral Architecture of the Valencian Region

Founded in 1839, the Athenaeum is a cultural institution dedicated to the promotion of history, art, science and literature, and with thehe 23rd edition of the Gala de la Cultura has sought to highlight and recognise the work of some fifteen institutions and personalities from the world of research, art and culture in Alicante. Among the winners of this edition, held during the interval of the concert given by the Orquesta Barroca Valenciana, honorary awards have been given to those people or entities that contribute with their activity to the cultural, scientific or social wealth of the province, and seven plaques have been awarded to associations or centres and nine medals to people for their daily work in different fields of interest for the province.
