Workshops, activities and animated visits to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities at MARQ

 

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated worldwide on Tuesday 3 December, with the aim of promoting the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all areas of society, as well as raising awareness of their situation in all aspects of life. On this anniversary, the MARQ CV Foundation will celebrate this day so that everyone can enjoy the activities and contents of the MARQ, making it an inclusive and accessible space, extending this celebration to 29 and 30 November and 1, 2, 3 and 5 December.

Under the slogan promoted by the United Nations "Nothing about us without usThe slogan of the European Disability Forum, the leadership of people with disabilities is embodied and the principles of participation, representation and inclusion are condensed in this slogan. This slogan also highlights the importance of people with disabilities taking a leading role in making decisions about their lives.

The programme of activities organised by the Didactics, Accessibility and Social Responsibility Unit of the MARQ Foundation will begin on friday 29 novemberfrom 10:00 to 12:00 a.m. with the participation of the Down Syndrome Association of Alicante at the workshop "Decorate your Domus", in which participants will draw a polychrome decorative motif inspired by Roman models from more than 2,000 years ago, based on the material remains of mural painting from the Domus of the Eastern Gate of Lucentum.

On the same day of 17:30 to 18:30 y with the participation of APSA will take place the activity "Guide for a day at MARQ"with a guided tour of the Prehistoric Room by users of the APSA participants in the project "Guide for a day at MARQ". The aim of this programme is to use the museum as a tool to carry out training and educational activities for people with intellectual disabilities.

The Saturday 30 November from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and at collaboration with ASPANION, Association of parents of children with cancerThe "Archaeology workshop" has been programmed in which the participants will be able to learn about and experience the work of an archaeologist. After a visit to the museum halls where they will learn how to dig in a cave, in the depths of the sea and in a city, they will carry out their own archaeological excavation.

On the same day, from 17:00 to 19:00, our visitors will be able to practice the Braille system, an effective tool that allows blind people to read, write, access education, culture and information by touch. This activity will be open to the general public, in the MARQ gardens, without prior registration.

And of 17:30 to 18:30 hours the activity will take place "The talent of OCU". This activity consists of an animated visit to the Prehistoric Hall, storytelling and workshop. Ocu, a blind girl who lives in prehistoric times, will learn that her visual impairment will be her greatest strength. In the didactic workshop, participants will imitate prehistoric techniques and represent cave art motifs. Recommended for families with children from 3 to 7 years old, accompanied by an adult. The don 1 DecemberFrom 11 a.m. to 12 noon, there will be an animated visit to the Roman Culture room, where we will learn about the most interesting aspects of this period. This will be followed by the storytelling "The caress of the Gods", where the little ones will learn the story of a girl with a physical disability, who through a prodigy was considered chosen by the Gods. Then we will perform the roman bulla workshop and will be carried out by the participation of ASPALI, Asperger's Association of Alicante.

From 12:00 to 13:00 hours the visit is scheduled for The adventures of Pira and Cavernus", in which these two characters will discover the history of the province of Alicante. For this activity, also in sign language, cWe will have the participation of APESOA.

And of 12:30 to 13:30, our visitors will be able to practise the Braille system, an effective tool that allows blind people to read, write and access education, culture and information by touch. This activity is aimed at the general public, in the gardens of the MARQ, and no prior registration is required.

Already the Monday 2 Decemberof 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. will take place the viThis activity is part of the Social Responsibility programme "Museum and Memory against Alzheimer's Disease", which we carry out in collaboration with AFA Alicante.

The tuesday 3 decemberFrom 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., the talk "Accessibility and social responsibility projects at the MARQ" will be held as part of the Disability Week organised by the University of Alicante.

From 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. a workshop is planned "Campaniform Vase" directed to a children during long stays in hospital, in collaboration with the Hospital Pedagogical Unit of the Paediatrics Service of the Hospital General Universitario Dr. Balmis in Alicante. as part of the project "Un Hospital de Cuento".

The activities will end at the AU, on Thursday 5 December with a reading of the articles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, organised by the University of Alicante, with the participation of the  coordinator of the Didactics, Accessibility and Social Responsibility Unit, Fundación CV MARQ, Gema Sala
