The Archaeological Museum of Catalonia hosts from today and until 1 February next the exhibition 'Tresors de la Vila Joiosa', which has been organised with the involvement of the MARQ and the Town Hall of the Marina Baixa town. A total of 145 objects are being exhibited for the first time in Catalonia with the aim of raising awareness of the Villajoyosa's rich heritagewhile at the same time rendering a tribute to the importance that the sea has had in the history of this coastal municipality as the main means of communication with the civilisations that populated the territory.
The manager of the Fundación Comunidad Valenciana MARQ, Francisco Sirventwill participate this afternoon in the presentation and inauguration of the exhibition, in which the following are exhibited unique pieces of great value, including the Phoenician-Punic necklace from Poble Nouconsisting of 32 gold beadsand that of Cassettes. In addition, the following will be exhibited for the first time outside Alicante pieces recovered from the largest Roman wreck in the Mediterranean, El Bou-Ferrer.
