MARQ donates a Roman anchor trap to the Tabarca Museum

From today, the Nueva Tabarca Museum is exhibiting another piece in its rooms. It is a piece that has been loaned by the Archaeological Museum of Alicante MARQ for a period of four years, thanks to the collaboration agreement signed between the museum centres.

This is an anchor clamp from a Roman vessel made of lead, which was found during the underwater archaeological survey carried out by a MARQ team in 2012 on the island of Tabarca. The complete piece would have originally included a wooden shaft, which would have been located transversally in the central part, and a lead band in the lower part which would have been used to hold the arms.

The Nueva Tabarca Museum, since its inauguration in May 2004, is located in the old Almadraba warehouse building, once its refurbishment as a Services Building was completed. It houses two large spaces: the Audiovisual Room and the Exhibition Hall.
