"These are very relevant figures, especially considering that it is the first international exhibition in a period of pandemic, which shows that there is a great desire to enjoy quality cultural proposals and we will continue to work in this direction," he said.
The collection consists of 150 artefacts from the most important excavations in ancient Etruria is distributed in three halls, making it the largest monographic exhibition on this culture to be shown in Spain in the last decade. The proposal is an initiative of the Alicante Provincial Council, the MARQ Foundation and the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of the Province of Pisa and Livorno and includes a selection of original pieces from the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze (MAF) and the Museo Etrusco Guarnacci in Volterra.
Etruscans. The dawn of Rome' is an exceptional opportunity to discover the cultural, social, political and urban structure of this civilisation with valuable objects, such as the Orbetello headband or the bracelets from the necropolis of Bisenzio. The part of the exhibition devoted to the world of beliefs, mainly made up of funerary pieces, includes works such as the urns of Ulysses, of the Sirens and of the Rape of Proserpina of Volterra or the male sarcophagus from the Rosavecchia necropolis in Tuscany.
The exhibition also incorporates graphic and didactic material which includes audiovisual projections and interactive tools. The original pieces are accompanied by images and explanatory texts based on rigorous scientific documentation. MARQ has also set up a web space with images and information on the most important objects and access to advance booking of tickets and guided tours.
As a complement to the exhibition, 'Etruscan Traces in Alicante'. presents a set of 22 pieces that show the imprint of this ancient Italic culture on Alicante's territory. revealing the importance of rituals related to goldsmithing and wine in the Iberian period, which include objects from the MARQ and from the municipal museums of Xàbia., La Vila Joiosa and Guardamar del Segura.
Visits to the exhibition can be made freely or in groups. In both cases, it is recommended that you advance booking through the website of the MARQ and, due to the current capacity restrictions imposed by the health authorities, the Guided groups shall be of a maximum of 15 persons..
