MARQ signs an agreement with El Campello to reinforce the educational and tourist offer of the La Illeta archaeological site.

The CV MARQ Foundation and the El Campello Town Council have renewed the collaboration agreement to promote the knowledge and dissemination of archaeological heritage among tourists, visitors and local residents, offering and extending guided tours to the site of La Illeta dels Banyets, visits by local schoolchildren to the MARQ, the Archaeological Museum of Alicante.

The Deputy for Culture, Juan de Dios Navarrosigned the agreement with the mayor of the town, Juan José BerenguerHe explained that this new strategy will expand the educational and tourist offer of El Campello. Likewise, the provincial head said that "the task of recovering and enhancing the value of La Illeta dels Banyets to create a site museum available to all citizens and especially to residents and visitors to El Campello has been an effort by the Provincial Council that is now rewarded with the interest of the municipality in making known the wealth of archaeological heritage that they treasure".

For his part, Berenguer pointed out that "we are a tourist municipality with the status of 'Excellence' to which we add a differentiated and quality offer not only for residents and visitors, but also for schoolchildren, so that they can get to know the rich archaeological heritage that we have both in El Campello and in our province".

The agreement provides that the town council of Campellera, through the Department of Education, acquires annually 500 tickets to the site to be made available to the educational community free of charge.. As a novelty, the City Council will also offer, free of charge, a guided tour and an educational workshop at the MARQ, in order to introduce students to both the museum and the various annual exhibitions of cultural interest that it hosts.

The agreements also include the possibility of taking part in the activity programmed by the Didactic Unit of the Fundación CV MARQ "The Voice of Archaeology".which will be offered free of charge.

On the other hand, the agreement allows the Tourism Department of El Campello to purchase one thousand tickets with which to organise the programme of guided visits, both to the site and to the "Torre de la Illeta" and the "Paseo Voramar de les Escultures".at an agreed price of two euros with a guide and one euro without a guide. These agreed rates will be paid by the clients themselves at the ticket office at the entrance to the site.
