History without Barriers Project: MARQ-APSA
The Fundación CV MARQ and the Training Centre of the APSA Alicante Association have launched the project History without Barriers: MARQ-APSA for people with different intellectual abilities, to promote archaeological science and to publicise the work of researchers and archaeologists and value their discoveries and findings.
This project, which began in November last year with a first block dedicated to Prehistory, continues now in the first quarter of 2024 with the focus on the Iberian world and Roman Culture and with the aim of using the MARQ as an educational and didactic tool for people with intellectual disabilities.
The didactic sessions are divided into four classes of 15 students each and are held at the APSA Training Centre itself, where the technicians of the Didactic Unit of the Fundación CV MARQ introduce the subject matter of each session and lead the didactic workshops, which end with a subsequent visit to the MARQ room corresponding to the chronological and cultural period covered in the classroom.
The project manages to promote and disseminate the findings and discoveries made over the years and to reconstruct aspects of daily life in the past, as well as to instil values that promote the appreciation and safeguarding of historical heritage, diversity and respect for the different, while highlighting how a multitude of cultures have settled and developed in our province and the coexistence between them.
