The Almudaina Tower celebrates the 15th anniversary of its opening to the public with two days of open doors.

Two open days with free admission

The Islamic monument recognised as an Asset of Cultural Interest can be visited free of charge on 14 and 15 August.

The Provincial Council of Alicante, the Almudaina Town Council and the CV MARQ Foundation are celebrating the 15th anniversary of the museumisation of the Almudaina Almohad Tower with two open days on 14 and 15 August.

Open to the public since 14 August 2009, the Torre de During the Islamic period, it formed part of the fortified enclosure of the existing small farmstead known as "al-Mudayyina", the origin of the present-day Almudaina.

An Asset of Cultural Interest with the category of Monument, the Almudaina Almohad Tower is a "site museum" that introduces the visitor to the knowledge and enjoyment of its architecture and the landscape that surrounds it, but also to its history.

Almudaina is located in the interior of the province of Alicante, in the mountainous region of El Comtat, 587 metres above sea level. It is an agricultural village with just over a hundred inhabitants whose history is linked to this Islamic Almohad tower erected at an undetermined time in the first half of the 13th century, to defend its small farmhouse at the gates of the Christian conquest.

The opening hours of the first open day, on 14 August, will be from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00. On the bank holiday 15th August, the opening hours will be from 9 am to 1 pm. More information at www.marqalicante.com
