800 pupils from Calp take part in a MARQ training programme to learn about the heritage of Pobla d'Ifac.

Nearly 800 students from Calp's schools have the opportunity to learn more about the heritage of Pobla d'Ifac thanks to an online training programme launched by the Archaeological Museum of the Provincial Council of Alicante (MARQ).

The programme, which began yesterday and will run until 21 May, will allow pupils from nursery school to the 6th year of primary education to learn about both the archaeological heritage and the history of La Pobla through the remains investigated at the site.

This project has been possible thanks to the process of digitalisation of the MARQ's educational resources, carried out by the MARQ Foundation and the Alicante Provincial Council's Department of Culture.

The training programme includes a didactic guide in Spanish and Valencian, together with activities that teachers and students can consult and download from the website to work on its contents in the classroom. These resources can also be downloaded in easy-to-read format for students with comprehension difficulties. In addition, there will be an interactive trivia game with questions to consolidate the knowledge acquired, a video presentation aimed at children with a presentation by the curator of the exhibition, the MARQ archaeologist José Luis Menéndez, and an audiovisual presentation of the exhibition with cartoons with all the information about the graphite, its discovery, its importance as a historical document and its contribution to documenting the history of Ifac.

A didactic workshop has also been programmed in streaming, 'Knights and Graffiti', to reproduce the drawing with the image of the knight that appeared in the Domus Lauria of Calp. It will serve to propose a journey back in time to the medieval city, origin of the municipality. In addition, schoolchildren will be able to participate in the game "The Mysterious Box" in which they will have to solve a series of riddles to obtain a secret code that will open the lock of the box; inside the box is a document in which they commit themselves to care for and protect the heritage of Calp.

The educational initiative on the site of La Pobla is the result of the collaboration between the MARQ Foundation and the Calp Town Council after the opening of the exhibition 'El Caballero de Ifac. The decline of the medieval city'. The Calp Town Council is a member of the Board of Trustees of the CV-MARQ Foundation and makes an annual contribution of 12,000 euros.
