The Marq to host the next EEN (European Exhibitions Network) meeting

On 23 and 24 January, the MARQ will host a meeting of the EEN (European Exhibitions Network) a group of European museums in the historical-archaeological field that aims to cooperate in the creation and exchange of information about projects linked to the exchange of their own collections in the production of exhibitions that are accessible to related institutions.

The organisation held its first meeting in June 2011 in the Austrian city of Linz, when the working group was formed, comprising the Landes Museen (Linz, Austria), the Medelhaus Museet (Stockholm, Sweden), the Historisches Museum del Pfalz Speyer, Germany, the Drents Museum (Drents, Holland) and the MARQ (Alicante, Spain). With the Medelhaus in Stockholm -Museum of the Mediterranean- the MARQ has already collaborated with the organisation of the exhibition Archaeological TreasuresCyprus  which visited Alicante in 2006 and with the Historisches Museum (Palatinate Museum of History) the MARQ has just signed a collaboration agreement for the realisation of the exhibition The Treasuresof the Barbarians, which is scheduled to open in Alicante next April.

Other Spanish museums invited by MARQ to join the working group, such as the Regional Archaeological Museum of Madrid (MAR), the National Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia (MNAC), the Archaeological Museum of Asturias and the Archaeological Museum of Almería, will also attend the Alicante meeting.

At this meeting, the museums mentioned above will be able to share projects, consider exchanging collections and exhibition itineraries, and also generate a joint exhibition that can tour different venues.
