9 May is Europe Day, when we celebrate the peace and unity of the European continent. This date harks back to the historic "Schuman declaration"In a speech delivered in Paris in 1950, French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman set out his idea of a new form of political cooperation in Europe that would make a new war between European nations unthinkable.
In the European Year of Cultural Heritage, which has been awarded the MARQ's 2018 programme of activities, we are given the opportunity to participate in a year that commemorates the richness and diversity of European Heritage. A seal that is of utmost importance for the MARQ, as it represents recognition of its efforts to disseminate beyond our borders the cultural and archaeological history of Alicante and of the civilisations that have populated the land throughout history, and its contribution to the creation of a common cultural space. Today we reaffirm our commitment to the society we serve with a MARQ for all, which is committed to the educational value of cultural heritage and its contribution both to economic development and to the construction of inclusive, cohesive and sustainable societies.
