For three days, the MARQ will be the epicentre of an extremely interesting meeting aimed at delving into the urban planning of Roman cities. It is the International Colloquium Rupture and Continuity of the Classical City Street Map in the Transit from the High Empire to Late Antiquity. A forum for conferences, talks and debates on the evolution of the classical High-Imperial city, one of the greatest exponents of Roman times, so closely linked to its socio-political and economic context. A historical process reflected in the urban streets, authentic backbones and vital arteries of a political and administrative model built in and around the cities. The new conceptions of the urban and the transformation of the streets as a public space par excellence constitute the central axis of these conferences which were inaugurated this Wednesday by the deputy for Culture and Education, César Augusto Asencio, the managing director of the MARQ Foundation, José Alberto Cortés, and the scientific directors of the ColloquiumManuel Olcina, technical director of the MARQ and José Miguel Noguera, professor of Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Murcia. A total of thirty-six speakers will be taking part in the International Colloquium, which has registered around one hundred registrations. Today and tomorrow the lectures will be given in the MARQ auditorium and on Friday 9 November there will be a field trip to the Tossal de Manises archaeological site.
