MARQ hosts the second edition of the 'Practica el Doning' Blood Donation Marathon on Friday 14th June.

  

       After the success of the first edition, the Museo Arqueológico de Alicante hosts the next friday 14 June the second edition of the Blood Donation Marathon 'Practice Doning'. The Transfusion Centre of the Valencia Region and ASISA are promoting this solidarity initiative which, for the second consecutive year, has the collaboration of the television chef Pepe RodríguezThe event was organised by the organisation of the snack that will be served to all those who come to collaborate.

         In addition, all donors will receive a ticket to visit the MARQ and another two tickets to attend the concert that the singer Carlos Baute will be giving at the MARQ. will be held at the Teatro Principal on 5 July, courtesy of ASISA.

         The managing director of the MARQ Foundation, José Alberto CortésThis morning, he presented all the details of this day, which will coincide with the celebration of World Blood Donor Day and which will be held at the same time as the World Blood Donor Day. will start at 09:30 hours and will last until 21:00 hours. to facilitate a wide range of timetables for those who wish to collaborate.

         The event was also attended by the acting mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcalaby the Deputy Director of Nursing of the Transfusion Centre of the Valencian Community, María Teresa Garroand the provincial delegate of ASISA, Paula Giménez. They all took the opportunity to encourage citizens to join in this marathon, "which will once again show that Alicante is a city of solidarity that is committed to life".

         "As could not be otherwise, MARQ once again joins this extraordinary event whose aim is to create a culture of altruistic, continuous and regular haemodonation that allows us to help save lives," said José Alberto Cortés.

         As in the previous year, the hashtag #PracticaElDoning has been launched. to make this initiative more attractive and dynamic, especially among young people, who are the guarantee of the future. In the province of Alicante 250 donations per day are needed to cover and meet the demands of the hospitals.

         "Donation is a voluntary and altruistic act that takes no more than 20 or 30 minutes and offers a whole life to the person receiving the transfusion," explained the deputy director of Nursing at the Transfusion Centre of the Valencia Region, who added that "blood cannot be manufactured and has no substitute. Therefore, the only way to obtain it is through donation".

In the previous edition, a total number of 473 donorsof which 81 were debutants.
