A total of 1,551 visitors have come to the Municipal Exhibition Hall Vistalegre of Torrevieja to learn about our products and services. Guardians of Stone. The Castles of Alicante. The exhibition, which has been on display since last April, has aroused the interest of the inhabitants of the town of Salina, who have been able to enjoy a careful selection of 84 fortifications distributed throughout the province, structured in five routes that roughly coincide with the boundaries of the major regions of our province: the Castles of the Inner Border, centred on the Vinalopó Valley, where Villena and the Castles of La Atalaya and Salvatierra have a special role; the Castles of the Mountains, which deals with the regions of L'Alcoià-Comtat; the Castles of the Frontier of Fear, which focuses on the defences of Las Marinas de Alicante; the Clau del Regne, which is located in l'Alacantí and the Castles of Tudmir, which refers to La Vega Baja.
Alicante is, without a doubt, a Land of Castles. The province boasts a long list of almost 250 castles, fortifications, coastal towers, towers of refuge, fortified houses, forts and batteries that confirm that Alicante has been a land forged by these guardians of stone and mud that zealously guard the memory of our history within their solid walls.
Their extremely high heritage value, their deep-rooted connection with the citizens of Alicante and their attraction as a tourist attraction make them an essential reference point for our roots and our history. For this reason, the Diputación de Alicante, the MARQ-Museo Arqueológico Provincial de Alicante and the Fundación C.V. MARQ have decided to produce the exhibition Stone Guardians. Castles of AlicanteThe aim of this exhibition is to travel around the province, showing the enormous wealth of castellological treasures that Alicante possesses.
The Diputación de Alicante and the CV-MARQ Foundation have made an important effort to generate greater accessibility and enjoyment of the visit for all groups, using QR codes to expand the information of each castle in the exhibition, directing the user to the MARQ website and, above all, for groups with sight and hearing problems, incorporating adapted elements that help to improve understanding of the exhibition. For this reason, the exhibition has been equipped with supports and QR codes in relief, which allow visitors to obtain an audio guide with the main contents, a novelty that was implemented in this exhibition, making the exhibition completely accessible in all its itineraries. A great effort as a result of the intense collaboration of the Provincial Council and the CV-MARQ Foundation with ONCE and the Fesord Foundation.
