Conference day organised on the occasion of the exhibition at the MARQ of the exhibitions ".Etruscans. The dawn of Rome" y "Etruscan footprints in Alicante"In the morning and afternoon sessions, leading specialists from Italy and Spain will offer a current overview of the significance of Etruscan society and culture in the history of the Western Mediterranean, and in particular their influence on trade and commercial relations with the Iberian Peninsula, through the first contacts with the Phoenician and Greek colonies.
PROGRAMME
Morning shift: "Etruscans".
In the morning session, various researchers from the University of Florence, the National Museum of Florence and the Soprintendenza di Archeologia di Pisa e Livorno, among other institutions, will discuss new developments in relation to aspects such as the role of women in society, the historical context of the rise, apogee and decline of Etruria and the importance of religion in Etruscan society. Next, a leading researcher from the Museum of Prehistory in Valencia will talk about the consumption of wine and other Etruscan products in Iberian communities, this time in Spanish. All the lectures will be simultaneously translated Italian-Spanish / Spanish-Italian.

Afternoon shift: "Etruscan footprints".
The afternoon session will be entirely dedicated to showing aspects related to the presence in Alicante of various objects of Etruscan origin, mostly related to the consumption of the Iberian elites, and directly or indirectly linked to Phoenician trade. For this purpose, leading specialists from the University of Alicante and the MARQ will take part. Archaeological Museum of Alicante. The day will end with a debate between Italian and Spanish specialists to discuss and contrast ideas on the topics presented.
