The bulls of El Argar. Bronze Age clay figurines.

During Luis Siret's pioneering excavations at the Almeria sites of the El Argar culture at the end of the 19th century, small, enigmatic clay figurines were found which schematically represented bulls or cows. For almost a century the cultural attribution of these small figurines has been shrouded in controversy. Today it is indisputable that they belong to the Bronze Age, thanks to the work carried out recently at the Alicante site of Laderas del Castillo, in Callosa de Segura, and at other sites on the peninsula, such as La Bastida or Marroquíes Bajos.
