The MARQ will open the "Lamb Corner for Peace" on the occasion of the first visit of the North American artist Matt Lamb to Alicante on the 21st of September.
The Diputación de Alicante and the Alicante museum are thus joining the "Umbrellas for Peace" initiative, which proposes that people of all ages paint umbrellas with children and display them at gatherings of all kinds as a symbol of the search for positive values such as peace and international harmony.
From 21 September, the "Lamb Corner for Peace" at MARQ will host eight umbrellas painted by Matt Lamb and other well-known artists. Likewise, in addition to the umbrellas, this Corner will host the American artist's canvas entitled "The Feeling" along with other works signed by:

In the same way, Julio Escribano will present at MARQ the collection of photographs "Por un nunca jamás" ("For a never again"), which pays homage to all the victims of terrorism. Among them are some that were taken at "ground zero" in New York, after the attack on the Twin Towers on 11 September, and at Atocha, in Madrid, after 11 March.
The "Umbrellas for Peace" art project was created by the American painter Matt Lamb as a way of helping children who lost their immediate families in the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers. This initiative has been recognised by the European Parliament and the European Commission, among other prestigious institutions, and is now joined by the Diputación de Alicante and the MARQ.
International artist, sculptor, peace activist and philosopher, Matt Lamb's professional calendar is constantly full, always working in one of his many workshops around the world (Chicago, Florida, Ireland, France, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Israel and Palestine, among other places) and meeting with art collectors, politicians and personalities in each of his exhibitions, as well as leading the "Umbrellas for Peace" project, an initiative that, since its inception in 2001, has been developed in more than 16 countries and more than 800,000 children have painted their umbrellas.000 children have painted their umbrella.
Workshop at MARQ
The "MARQ Peace Corner" will be inaugurated to coincide with Matt Lamb's visit to MARQ on 21st September, when the American artist will lead the "Umbrellas for Peace" workshop organised in collaboration with the museum's Didactic Office. On this day, starting at 10.30 a.m., Matt Lamb will lead the plastic expression workshop with children from the APSA Occupational Centre, an activity that will culminate with the delivery to MARQ of the "Umbrella for Peace" made by the American artist to be permanently exhibited in a prominent place in the museum.
After these events, Matt Lamb will visit the galleries of the MARQ and will sign in the Book of Honour of the Alicante museum.
