The Member of Parliament for Culture Juan Bautista Roselló inaugurated this morning in the MARQ auditorium the I International Archaeology Conference '.Al-Andalus. Caliphate and Taifas 10th-11th centuries'. The event was also attended by the museum's technical director Manuel Olcina and the project coordinator Rafael Azuar.
Through this initiative, with the collaboration of the Dénia Town Council and the University of Alicantethe MARQ commemorates the thousandth anniversary of the conquest of the Balearic Islands and the island of Sardinia by Mujahid -Lord of the Taifa of Denia - which will take place in 2015.
Over the next few days, various experts and specialists will be analysing this crucial historical event that allowed the expansion of this municipality in the Marina Alta around the Mediterranean at the beginning of the 11th century.
