César Sánchez:We are going to promote universal accessibility plans in the province with an investment of 250,000 euros

 

The President of the Diputación de Alicante, César Sánchezhas announced a 250,000 investment for the municipalities of the province of less than 20,000 inhabitants to boost universal accessibility plans. This proposal, ratified today in the Social Welfare Committee, aims to promote sustainability and improve the well-being of citizens through the accessibility of public spaces.

Sánchez, who took part this morning in the MARQ in the commemorative ceremony for the 30th anniversary of COCEMFE Alicantehas indicated that "...The Diputación has a strong provincial vocation and a commitment, since the beginning of the legislature, to focus on people and optimising their quality of life.". There, he also announced the launching of a framework ordinance municipal which will be initially approved by the provincial institution and which will subsequently be sent to all the towns. This document will promote accessibility from the point of view of mobility and urban planning.

This ordinance, which will be presented shortly, should commit, as the president explained, "investments in the budget and the obligation that every time a modification, alteration or improvement of a private or public building is to be made, it must be done by increasing the accessibility of the building.".

30th Anniversary COCEMFE

The Spanish Confederation of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities in its delegation in Alicante is holding its thirtieth anniversary with an audiovisual proposal that reflects the work carried out with the short film '.Diversities: I am as different as you are'.

Sánchez took part in the inauguration of this meeting together with the vice-president of the Consell and councillor for Equality and Inclusive Policies, Monica Oltrathe councillor for Mobility and Accessibility of Alicante, Fernando Marcosthe regional president of the association, Javier Seguraand the president in Alicante, Antonio Ruescas. The event was also attended by the deputy for People's Welfare, Miguel Zaragozathe deputy for Family and Citizenship, Mercedes Alonsoor the rector of the University of Alicante, Manuel Palomaramong other authorities.

The head of the Provincial Government has highlighted the "COCEMFE is a living example for the administrations that are gathered here today, from the social experience it transmits."He has also assured that ".we will continue to walk hand in hand from the union and joint collaboration, also with the other administrations, to make Alicante an accessible province and to improve the quality of life of people.".

The 1987 four associations in the province joined forces to coordinate actions and work for the integration and inclusion of people with physical disabilities. Three decades later, this organisation has around fifty entities e integrates more than 8,000 people throughout Alicante.
