The Provincial Government is organising an extensive Christmas programme for all citizens of the province.

- The gardens of the Provincial Palace will host Father Christmas' house, the Royal Mailman, snow cannons, a Christmas market and many other activities throughout Christmas.

- The users of Doctor Esquerdo and the elderly of the Provincial Home will exhibit their handicrafts from 10 to 14 December at the Provincial Council.

- This month, Culture will develop more than 130 activities for all tastes in the MARQ, Mubag or ADDA centres and in different municipalities of the province.

              A christmas marketthe house of Father Christmas and the Royal Mailman, snow cannonsstoryteller, music shows and workshops, exhibitions of handicrafts by the residents of the Doctor Esquerdo Centre and the Provincial Home, along with a large number of other residents. cultural activities in centres such as the Marq, the ADDA or the Mubag are some of the proposals that the Diputación de Alicante will offer to all the citizens of the province this Christmas.

         The Deputy for the Presidency, Economy and Institutional Relations, Carlos CastilloThe Welfare of People, Miguel Zaragozaand that of Culture, César Augusto AsencioThe Christmas programme promoted by the Provincial Government, which will be enjoyed by young and old alike, was presented today.

            "The Alicante Provincial Council's Christmas is Christmas for the whole province as we want to turn the Provincial Palace and its gardens into a meeting point for the citizens of Alicante's 141 municipalities."Castillo stressed, who detailed the proposals that will be developed specifically in the Provincial Palace and that will start on 10 December at 7 p.m. with the Christmas tree and lights switch-on. The activities to be held at the Provincial Council headquarters are:

 

–       Santa's House. Between 18 and 24 December, the gardens of the Provincial Palace will host a very special spot from 11 am to 10 pm (until 2.30 pm on 24 December) where young and old alike will be able to hand in their letters to Father Christmas and talk to this endearing character.

–      The Royal Mailmanwill succeed Father Christmas and collect the children's letters for the Three Wise Men from 25 December until the evening of 5 January.

–      Playful activities. The programme includes different proposals from 18 December to 6 January inclusive: 

- The Jardines de la Diputación will be transformed into a large christmas market with more than 60 stalls selling typical products such as nougat, crafts, chestnuts, leather goods and costume jewellery. This market, which will be held from 11:00 to 22:00, will be decorated with activities such as storytelling, elves, musical performances and workshops and mini-concerts that will fill the gardens of the Provincial Palace with magic, which will also be covered in snow during these days (on 18, 19, 20, 26, 27 December and 2 and 3 January at 19:00, snow cannons will be used all around the Palace).

       The Diputación will also be the venue for the 10 to 14 Decemberof the Exhibition of Handicrafts which are carried out in the occupational workshops of the Doctor Esquerdo Centre and the Geriatric Unit of the Provincial Home. The deputy for People's Welfare, Miguel Zaragozahas indicated that the area "has prepared an extensive programme so that all the groups that we attend to can also enjoy these special and intimate dates, making them participants in them.". In addition to this exhibition, which will be open from 9am to 9pm non-stop in the Diputación gardens, Bienestar de las Personas has prepared other events.

-         Christmas Party. Tuesday 22 December at 5.30 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Provincial Home.. The Department of Social Welfare is organising, with the collaboration of the Provincial Home, the "Christmas Party". Around 600 elderly people from different municipalities of the province - in this case ten -, together with the residents of the centre, will participate in this recreational activity that includes different shows and a snack.

-         Family Day. Saturday 12 December at 18.00 in the Assembly Hall of the Provincial Home. On the occasion of the festive season, a Christmas function (dances, Christmas carols) is organised for the families of the elderly residents of the centre.

-         Delivery of toys.Tuesday 22 December at 10.15 a.m. in the Infants' School. Delivery of gifts to each child in the school on the last day of school.

-         Distribution of gifts on the occasion of Three Kings Day.Tuesday 5 January at the Provincial Home. The Three Wise Men hand out presents to the elderly residents of the centre and to the children staying at the Home.

-         Christmas Festival between residents and professionals of the Doctor Esquerdo Centre.18 December in the Church of the centre.  Christmas carols and other recreational activities.

      Finally, the Culture Area will be the other pillar of the Provincial Government's drive to promote Christmas celebrations in our province. A total of 139 activities in different municipalities, especially in cultural centres. MARQ, ADDA and MubagThe investment of more than 230,000 euros, most of them already included in the budgets of the provincial institution and the cultural bodies approved for 2015, make up a varied offer aimed at all audiences. "There is a very numerous and varied cultural activity, the result of a very important effort so that all the citizens of the province can enjoy music, theatre and choirs during this month, especially for the youngest members of the family.".

           The exhibition of Nativity scenes, which will open tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Provincial Palace, is one of the most important Christmas landmarks in the province. Until 6 January, citizens will be able to enjoy this unique exhibition made up of scenes of different styles and sizes.

        In the Diputación's cultural centres, there will be a programme to suit all tastes.

Christmas tree lighting ceremony (Friday, 11 December at 6 p.m.) including

–      WorkshopsThere will be face painting, letters to the Three Wise Men, making a wishing coin or a musical instrument.

–      Wishing wellThe children will be able to deposit in the well the wish coins that they will have previously made in the workshop.

–      The Chestnut TreeTypical chestnut stall where attendees can taste chestnuts free of charge.

–      Dolçainamusicians will play traditional songs around the tree

 

Children's theatre

   The museum has organised three days of children's theatre with the titles "Casi de verdad", "En busca de los Reyes Magos" and "El baúl de los cuentos". The sessions will be held on the 28th, 29th and 30th, from 12:30 to 13:30, and the tickets -limited to the capacity of the hall- will be given out in exchange for non-perishable foodstuffs that will later be given to the neediest families.

Educational workshops

    On the 28th, 29th and 30th different educational workshops will be organised at the Museum, lasting approximately an hour and a half, aimed at the youngest visitors.

Royal Mailbox

    Throughout the Christmas season, the Royal Mailbox will be available to all children to deposit their letters to the Three Wise Men.
