Latin in the 21st century at MARQ

The 5th and 6th grade students of the Santa Ana School in Alcoy will visit the MARQ tomorrow to carry out a linguistic immersion activity in English through the collections exhibited in the Roman Culture Room.

For the last two years, Colegio Santa Ana has had a pedagogical innovation project called English Time Project. This project, endorsed by the Consellería d'Educaciò, proposes learning the English language in a practical and effective way, leaving aside textbooks to adapt the contents and materials to the real interests and needs of the pupils. On this occasion, the 5th and 6th grade students will become archaeologists, which has forced them to learn everything related to the past: verb tenses, expressions and vocabulary related to daily customs and ancient traditions, utensils... Their visit to the MARQ will allow them to delve into Roman culture through an experience conveyed in English and to experience it first hand. AP Replica Watch the learning acquired in this subject.

Another surprise awaiting them after the visit to the Roman Hall is a workshop, in which they will be able to handle some of the materials and utensils used in ancient times to make skylights.

With the English Time method, the English language is learnt in a playful and meaningful way, through imitation, repetition and practice, in an atmosphere of affection and confidence. This improves the students' confidence so that they overcome their fear of communicating in the new language and are able to express themselves in a natural way.
