The Archaeological Museum of Alicante will host tomorrow Friday and theSaturday the '3rd Conference on Archaeology in the Region of ValenciaThe aim of the conference will be to discuss, through lectures by leading experts in the field, the new actions for knowledge and dissemination of cultural heritage.
The MARQ promotes this proposal, organised by the Archaeology Sections of the Colleges of Doctors and Graduates of Alicante and Valencia-Castellón, which is consolidated as a meeting and discussion forum of heritage specialists. This year the aim is to continue the outreach and interaction line of the fields and professionals who have in the cultural heritage their working activity.
During the two-day event, which is expected to be attended by half a hundred people interested in archaeology in particular and in cultural heritage in general, will develop 40 papers and presentationsas well as round tables on various aspects in which experts, whether or not linked to public institutions, will present their views and experiences. approaches, studies and research results.
Some of the topics that will be addressed in the talks will focus on updating the archaeological map of underwater heritage of Alicante, and in the interventions, recoveries and valorisation of enclaves such as the castles of Banyeres de Mariola and Castalla,the Tossal de Manises, the museum in La Alcudia (Elx),la Pobla Medieval de Ifac (Calp),the museum of the town of Sax or the San Rafael aqueduct (Petrer), among many others, as well as various points of archaeological interest in the rest of the Community.
The conference will be completed with two technical outputsthe Sunday 14 Decemberto the Roman cities of the Tossal de Manises -Lucentum- and L'Alcúdia -Illici-.
This cultural project was born in 2012 with the aim of organising a annual joint workshops of the three provinces that they were itinerant to make researchers' participation more accessible.
