The MARQ, with the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018

The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union adopted on 17 May 2017 IWC Replica WatchesThe Declaration of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, presented in Milan on 7 December. Europe's cultural heritage is not only a legacy of the past, it is also an indispensable resource for our future, given its unquestionable educational and social value, its considerable economic potential, as well as its important dimension in international cooperation, which has become the very essence of Europe.

The objectives of the European Year are to promote the exchange and appreciation of Europe's cultural heritage as a resource shared by all European citizens and the countries that make up the European Union, to raise awareness of common history and values and to reinforce a sense of belonging to a common space. What would Europe or the world be without the Louvre, the Prado, the Vatican Museums... or without the Alhambra, the Parthenon, the Loire Castles...?

The MARQ, as an open, didactic and respectful entity with the history of Alicante, is a European project that won the Best Museum in Europe Award in 2004, so it cannot remain on the sidelines of this Declaration and joins this initiative to continue promoting the dissemination of our archaeological heritage to all audiences. Because the MARQ belongs to everyone, regardless of our abilities or functional diversity.

The European Union places special emphasis on bringing European cultural heritage closer to young people during 2018, a proposal that MARQ has been developing since its origins through a careful and rigorous educational proposal adapted to all educational levels, aware of the important training and educational role that museums develop, sharing the objective of bringing our young people closer to the history of the province, and also of distant civilizations, through the archaeological remains that humanity has bequeathed to us.

In 2018, the MARQ will also lend its rooms to the Dámaso Navarro Museum in Petrer for the thirteenth exhibition of the Local Museums Cycle at the MARQ. It will also host the exhibition Rupestrian. The First Sanctuariesto commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the declaration as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO of the group of Cave Art sites of the Mediterranean Arc, including the Neolithic Sanctuary of Pla de Petracos, in the Alicante town of Castell de Castells, which is managed by the MARQ.

The MARQ is not only the first museum of Archaeology from 21st century. It also includes three important sites, the Tossal de Manises (Lucentum), the Illeta dels Banyets and the Pla de Petracos, as well as the Almudaina Almohad tower and the Cava Gran d'Agres snow pit. A vast cultural heritage that the MARQ conserves and researches,aaa-replica protects and disseminates as a shared resource to raise awareness of common history and values and to reinforce a sense of belonging to a common space.
