The MARQ, the MUBAG and the Instituto Alicantino de Cultura Juan Gil-Albert join, after several consecutive years, the rest of the city's centres to commemorate the"International Museum Day" to be held this weekend with a full programme of activities for the whole family.
Open days, guided tours, workshops, competitions, etc.o games will take centre stage on Friday 20th, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd May in these three cultural spaces of the Diputación de Alicante. Under the slogan 'Museums and cultural landscapes', the city will offer locals and visitors to Alicante a fun calendar of proposals thanks to the coordination of the Provincial Government and the city council.
The Member for the Presidency, Carlos CastilloThis morning, together with other local authorities and museum technicians, he presented the compendium of events that will take place over the three days. In addition, for the first time the proposals will be promoted on Facebook, through the MuseosDeAlicante profile, or with the Twitter account @AlicanteMuseos.
Castillo highlighted the joint collaboration between institutions to carry out this initiative, whose objective, as he pointed out, is "... to promote the development of a new culture of solidarity".bringing culture and the wealth of museums closer to the citizens of the province and the city of Alicante". In his speech, he also stressed the importance of the networking of the Alicante centreswho make up, in his words, a great cultural family with spaces in which quality, uniqueness and accessibility of their respective facilities make them more competitive.
Archaeological Museum of Alicante
The MARQ will commemorate this event by holding a conference onopen doors, with free admission, on the 18th, 21st and 22nd. The programme will focus on the environment of the axis of the museum and the sites to raise awareness about the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Torres de la Huertawith the collaboration of the CEIP Mediterráneo de Alicante.
The activities presented also include a series of workshops aimed at children between the ages of 4 and 12 yearswhich will take place on Saturday 21 May from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. hours and 18:00 to 20:00while the Sunday 22ndwill be carried out in 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.. Registration to participate in these activities is freeThe registration is limited to the capacity of the venue, and can be made half an hour before the workshop begins.
Visitors will also be able to discover the landscapes of the province of Alicante in the permanent exhibition, through an exciting and entertaining family activity. Each group will be given a small book to "check out" the different scenic routes offered by the museum and, once the itinerary has been completed, they will receive the diploma "Friend of the cultural landscapes of MARQ", together with an adult ticket to visit the Illeta site.
On the other hand, the exhibition "Vikings. Warriors of the North. Giants of the sea". will be inaugurated and open to the public next year. thursday 19 may at 19:00 hoursfrom the Museum of Denmark.
The sites of the Illeta dels Banyets and the Tossal de Manises will also participate in this initiative, opening its doors free of chargeThe Illeta will be open at its usual time during the weekend. And for those who are more curious, the Illeta will be the Sunday the scene of a dramatised visit which will take place at 11:00 a.m. under the title "Cradle of Civilisations.
It should be noted that, as in previous years, the celebration of the IWD will be linked to the collaboration with associations and groups at risk of social exclusion. The MARQ, the flagship of accessibility, has organised visits and workshops with users of the Down Syndrome Association of Alicante, Aspanion and Apesoa. The little ones in the Pedagogical Unit of the General Hospital will also play a leading role through a exhibition of drawings in which they will show their particular vision of our cultural heritage.

For its part, the MUBAG will hold open days on Saturday 21 -from 10:00 to 24:00 hours- and the Sunday 22 May -from 10:00 to 14:00 hours-. During these two days, visitors will have at their disposal three free activities to develop: the Tablet-Art spacein which they can play games related to works by Emilio Varela and Joaquín Sorolla; the photowalk where people will be able to photograph Varela's work for the first time, as well as the centre and its surroundings, and upload the photos to social networks with #YovoyalMUBAG; and finally, the giant modular tableThe users will be able to spontaneously paint a work of art from the centre's collection.
On Saturday, the first of these proposed activities will be dedicated to the youngest members of the family (4 to 12 years old), at 11:00, 12:00 and 13:00 hours. Among the 18:30 and 19:30 hours will be held a guided tour to the exhibition 'Sorolla íntimo. Sketches from a Vision of Spain', while at 20:00 a conference will be held on 'Photography and Cultural Landscape' given by the expert Manuel A. Velandia Mora. At the end of the day, at 22:00 the new script of the dramatised visit will be premiered. to the exhibition 'The 19th century at the MUBAG. From the formation to the plenitude of an artist'.
Later on Sunday, the Tablet workshop for children will be repeated at the same time as the previous day, while from 11:00 to 14:00 hours the workshop 'Photomobile Lab Art / Towards the landscape of Emilio Varela'. (for adults) to be given by photographer and visual artist Juan Sanz. At 12:00 a.m., the following is scheduled to take place visit to the Alicante Provincial Council's Art Gallery and Restoration Workshop and, to conclude the day, at 13:00 hours there will be a accessible guided toursimultaneously translated into sign language.

The Instituto Alicantino de Cultura also wanted to join the 'International Museum Day'.
