The MARQ brings to Torrevieja the travelling exhibition 'Guardianes de Piedra' (Guardians of Stone) on the province's castles.

The exhibition of the MARQ Guardians of Stone. The castles of Alicante'. will be on display in the next few weeks at the Vista Alegre Exhibition Hall in Torrevieja, where it can be visited until May. The exhibition, designed six years ago with a clear itinerant vocation, reviews the powerful legacy that the province treasures, with more than 300 castles, fortifications, coastal towers, towers of refuge, fortified houses, forts and batteries.

Parra stressed that "soon the people of Torrevieja will be able to visit one of the selections of the Archaeological Museum that has been most successful among the public, undoubtedly spectacular because it covers large enclaves of great historical and cultural value".

For its part, Eduardo Dolónthanked that it has been possible to make the exhibition Guardians of Stone. The castles of Alicante' can be visited in Torrevieja until the end of May. "It is a privilege that both citizens and tourists who come to our province can come to the municipality to see this important exhibition, with the guarantee that they will have all the necessary measures to enjoy a safe culture," he said.          

Guardians of Stone' was inaugurated at MARQ in 2015 with a production that obtained the National Emporia Gold Award for the best travelling exhibition of the year. The exhibition pays tribute to the extraordinary historical and architectural heritage of Alicante's territory through a careful selection of fortresses, organised into different routes, allowing visitors to choose and trace their own path to discover these monuments.

In addition, the exhibition design uses the new technologies to bring its contents closer to all audiences, and therefore includes a model of the province with a selection of the fortifications included in the exhibition, which have been manufactured with a 3D printer. In addition, and in order to generate a greater accessibility and the use of the visit for all groups, the following are used QR codes to expand the information by directing the visitor to the MARQ website and incorporates adapted elements that help to improve understanding of the sample.

The exhibition is currently in transit, having so far travelled to Villena, Guardamar del Segura, Xixona, Orihuela, CrevillentCalp, La Vila Joiosa, Cocentaina and Monforte del Cid.
