The MARQ organises a Hispanic-Portuguese scientific conference on the castreña culture of the northwest peninsular.

The Archaeological Museum of Alicante has organised a conference days around the international exhibition "The Atlantic Warrior: Symbols of power? which will be on display in the museum's library until 16 October. Leading specialists and researchers will participate on Thursday 22 September in this proposal on the culture of the castreña.

The First Vice-President and Member of Parliament for Culture, Julia Parrawill open the programme of lectures together with the Director General of Cultural Heritage of the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, Joâo Carlos dos Santos. "This day will provide the keys to understanding the uniqueness and importance of the 'Atlantic Warrior' and will also be an opportunity to delve into this unique exhibition, of great value and attraction, which is being exhibited for the first time at MARQ with pieces that are part of the treasure of Portugal," explained the provincial director.

In the exhibition you can see three of the most relevant pieces of the castreña culture of the north of Portugal. The extraordinary granite sculptures of the Lezenho Warrior and of the Verraco de Olival dos Berrôes and, in particular, the Golden torques by Vilas Boasconsidered one of the masterpieces of peninsular protohistoric goldsmithery. The three pieces are considered to be National Treasury of Portugal and are exhibited for the first time in Alicante.

Among the researchers invited to the conference are Thomas Schattner of the German Archaeological Institute in Lisbon, Armando Coelho of the University of Porto, Virgilio Correia of the Museum of Conimbriga and Fernando Quesada of the Autonomous University of Madrid. In addition, this line-up will be joined by speakers of the stature of António CarvalhoDirector of the National Museum of Archaeology of Portugal, and the aforementioned Joâo Carlos dos Santos.
