The Provincial Council of Alicante, through the Department of Culture and the Provincial Archaeological Museum, has made a temporary loan of 20 pieces from its collection, at the request of the Provincial Historical Archive of Alicante, to be exhibited at its facilities from 9 June to 31 December 2021, as part of the exhibition entitled "Valencians at war (1808-1814)".curated by Rafael Zurita Aldeguer, Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Alicante-UA.
The exhibition is one of the actions undertaken within the framework of the research projects of the University of Alicante for the provision of digital tools for the transfer of knowledge and understanding of History and Cultural Tourism: War and Public History GeHP, whose content is the War of Independence in the Valencian Community, funded by the Generalitat Valenciana (AICO2017-011) and PAdGUE, focused on the landscapes and places of the Spanish War of Independence, funded by the BBVA Foundation in Digital Humanities.
The pieces on temporary loan from the Provincial Council and in the custody of the MARQ, which has also collaborated in their transfer and assembly in the hall, are ten tiles painted with different characters, from the 18th and 19th centuries, which form part of the collections of the Historical Fund and Quiles Antón Collection of the Provincial Museum, two 19th century fans from the Beltrán-Ausó Collection and eight silver coins from the beginning of the 19th century (1808-1814), of different values, belonging to the numismatic collection of the MARQ-Tesoro de San Juan.
