The President of the Diputación de Alicante, César Sánchezreaffirmed yesterday the commitment of the Archaeological Museum of Alicante to facilitate the access to culture to people with functional diversity. This was ratified after the signing of agreements with the Cajamar Valencian Community Foundation and the Association of Deafblind People of the Valencian Community (Asocide).
Sanchez stressed that these agreements "allow us to continue working on different initiatives as part of our desire to make the contents and activities organised by MARQ more accessible."which, he recalled, won the ONCE Valencian Community Solidarity Award 2013 for its work in favour of the full normalisation and integration of people with functional disabilities.
On the one hand, Sánchez renewed the collaboration agreement with the Fundación Cajamar Comunidad Valenciana, together with its vice president Raúl Lafuentewith a view to the development of a accessibility programme package launched by the museum "and which offers great possibilities to the group of disabled people who have traditionally had difficulties in accessing knowledge and culture."Sanchez pointed out.
In this way, the agreement will allow the continuation of "Talking with your handsguided and dramatised visits campaign in Sign Language to the permanent exhibition and to the archaeological sites, as well as to the exhibition "Vikings. Warriors of the North. Giants of the Sea". which will be inaugurated on 19 May. In addition, thanks to the collaboration of the Fundación Cajamar Comunidad Valenciana, the A fairytale hospital" projectaimed at children with oncological and long-term illnesses, in collaboration with the Paediatrics Service and the UPH of the General Hospital of Alicante.
Finally, it is also possible to hold the III International Congress on Education and AccessibilityAccessibility and Inclusion in Cultural and Natural Heritage Tourism, to be held in Alicante and La Vila Joiosa next October.
On the other hand, the president of the provincial institution and Francisco Trigueroson behalf of Asocide, signed an agreement to promote all those activities that allow deafblind people to get closer to the MARQ. Sánchez explained the importance of this direct contact in the learning process and the enjoyment it brings to these people, as well as the enjoyment it brings to them as a leisure and free time activities.
In this sense, and among other agreements that include the dissemination of activities and the possibility of use some facilities for meetings or coursesthe Museum will allow the accessibility through touch to a set of parts and materials, as well as the visit to the "Cabinet of collections and researchers". to take advantage of its great didactic potential.
