MARQ receives more than 3,000 visitors for the last weekend of Vikings

The Archaeological Museum of Alicante has lived this Sunday a festive and multitudinous day of open doors in which 1,650 people, mostly families from Alicante, have visited the exhibition "Vikings. Warriors of the North. Giants of the sea". Such has been the interest aroused by this exhibition, that almost fifty people were waiting at the doors of the museum from almost an hour before its opening to be the first to enjoy this Sunday of free access to the Marq; the large influx of people has caused at various times in the morning queues that have come to surround the facade of the museum. On Saturday, the eve of the Viking closing ceremony, no less than 1,495 people passed through the museum, which gives us a balance of 3,145 people in just a couple of days.

The Marq thus bids farewell to the 663 pieces exhibited for the first time outside Denmark, which have allowed us to discover the amazing Viking Age, an era that convulsed Europe from its foundations, with terror, due to the ferocity of its attacks, but also with the wisdom and spirituality that the peoples of the North expanded as they conquered new lands.

Vikingos has consolidated the Marq as an accessible and quality tourist and cultural reference. From Alicante, after the delicate work of dismantling, the exhibition will travel to the Museo de la Marina in Lisbon (Portugal), where it can be visited from 12 April.

The Marq is already working on the organisation of what will be its next international exhibition, "Mayas. The mystery of the lost cities", which will arrive in Alicante on the 25th of May, coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the museum in its current location... the party continues at the Marq!
