The Archaeological Museum of Alicante has organised a new edition of the Course of the Huerta de Alicante which will run from 26 April to 13 May. Alongside the CV MARQ Foundation and in collaboration with the CEFIREthe proposal is focused on recovering and enhancing the cultural heritage of the camp d'Alacant and this year it will place special emphasis on the sensory sphere with nods to Fondillón and traditional music.
The First Vice-President and Member of Parliament for Culture, Julia ParraThe museum has stated that with this new edition, "the Alicante museum consolidates this format of training courses focused on the educational community of the province and reaffirms its commitment to the protection and safeguarding of the cultural heritage that exists in the surroundings of the city of Alicante".
This year, after the removal of the last restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the route returns to its original route. on-site format with an offer focused on the five senses for participants to appreciate, listen to and even taste some of the topics raised by the coordinators, the archaeologist José Luis Menéndez and the historian and lawyer Jorge Payá.
The sessions, for which registration is still open, will take place at the library and assembly hall of MARQ, as well as in the historic Sarrió TowerThey will be led by specialists and technicians such as professors from the University of Alicante, Esmeralda Martínez and Miriam ParraProfessor of History and Economic Institutions at the University of Alcalá de Henares, Joaquín Melgarejo, or the technician of the Water Cycle of the Diputación de Alicante, Miguel Fernández Mejuto.
In addition, the oenologist and historian Rafael Poveda will give a lecture on the Fondillón de Alicante, while the musical group So de Mutxamel will offer a performance and show its trajectory with its members, Remedios Climent and Alicia Castelló. From the language of water and parlar of the Huerta de Alicante will speak Francesc Xavier Salaof the Ajuntament de Mutxamel, and Anna B. Baeza and Miguel Roncalésmembers of the SALPASSA Dance Groupwill delve into the traditional music and dance of the Huerta.
The devotional sentiment transferred to music and to the different elements of popular religiosity will be the focus of the intervention by Jorge Payá and Assumpció Brotons i BoixThe official chronicler of Mutxamel, who will be accompanied in his presentation by members of the La Paz Musical Society of Sant Joanwho will perform devotional pieces.
The itinerary will close at the Sarrió Tower with a tasting of Alicante wines organised by the DOP Wines of Alicante and which will be managed by the prestigious international sommelier David Doñate Martínwith which we will close the third edition of this cultural itinerary.
