The MARQ takes you to Casa sus Monumentos y Sitios Arqueológicos (House of Monuments and Archaeological Sites)

Today, 18 April, MARQ joins in the celebrations for the International Day for Monuments and Archaeological Sites, an initiative of ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) which since 1982 has been promoting the dissemination of cultural and archaeological heritage, raising awareness of its diversity, relevance, vulnerability and need for preservation. This year's theme is "Shared Cultures. Shared Heritage and Shared Responsibility".

On this day, we want to share our sites and monuments with all our audiences and with as many Internet users around the world as they wish, by bringing them home through our website. Cultural heritage has not been exempt from the effects of the pandemic caused by COVID-19, all archaeological sites, monuments, museums and collections are closed to the public and we cannot visit them, therefore, we invite you to visit the wonders of Alicante's heritage that we manage thanks to the commission received from the Diputación de Alicante, in a virtual way. The sites of Tossal de Manises, Lucentum, in Alicante and La Illeta dels Banyets in El Campello, the Almohad Tower of Almudaina in this beautiful inland town of Alicante, the Neolithic Sanctuary of Pla de Petracos in Castell de Castells and the Cava Gran de Agres in the heart of the Sierra Mariola Natural Park, are right there, just a click away. Let's share our Monuments and Archaeological Sites, which are everyone's responsibility and an important part of our common Culture.

Since March 12th MARQ is more open to the world than ever, agile, participative and entertaining, in our blog #quedateencasaconelmarq we have designed virtual tours of both the temporary exhibitions and the permanent collection, sites and monuments, educational workshops, games, pastimes and lots of activities for all audiences and, especially, for our youngest friends. Visit us at www.marqalicante.com and get ready to navigate History from Home.
