The Archaeological Museum of Alicante is immersed in the work of fitting out its rooms to host the great international exhibition of 2017, Mayas. The enigma of the lost cities.  The display cases that will house the 167 pieces travelling from Guatemala and the 24 pieces on loan from the German museums of Cologne and Berlin to recreate the attractive Mayan culture in Alicante are impatiently awaiting their arrival in the exhibition rooms and exhibition set-up.

The technicians and specialists of the Marq, museum and foundation, together with the Rocamora Arquitectura team, are preparing to finalise all the details of an exhibition project with a spectacular design that will lead us to the soul of this civilisation that still holds many mysteries to be discovered and enigmas to be deciphered. The Mayas inhabited the Yucatan peninsula and their culture developed in a territory that has Guatemala as its epicentre and extends to Belize, Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras. A civilisation that reached its peak of splendour during the first millennium BC, when the kings became divinities and sowed the jungle with immense temples and palaces. A symbolic and fascinating world that will come to the Marq for the first time on 25 May.
