The MARQ will open the LAMB-DALÍ Year 2011, on the occasion of the American artist's visit to Alicante.
Last Friday, at the press conference held at Alicante City Hall, the content of the events to be held at the MARQ on 21 September was announced, on the occasion of the visit of Matt Lamb, creator of the "Umbrellas for Peace" initiative, an artistic project that began as a way of helping children who lost their immediate families in the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers in New York. This initiative has been recognised by institutions all over the world, including the European Parliament and the European Commission, and has recently been joined by the Diputación de Alicante and the MARQ.

In addition to hosting Matt Lamb's visit, and on the occasion of LAMB-DALÍ Year 2011, the MARQ is preparing the exhibition "EL MARQ FOR PEACE", which will be inaugurated on 21 September in the main entrance courtyard of the museum by the North American artist himself and the President of the Diputación de Alicante and the MARQ, José J. Ripoll. For the occasion, a selection of 5 sculptures by the international and immortal artist from Cadaqués has been brought together from the Clot collection, owned by Juan Javier Bofill, who has also confirmed his presence at the event together with representatives of the "Alió Foundation" of Alicante, promoters of the initiative. The sculptures that will travel to the MARQ are: the Cosmic Elephant, the Monstrous Divinity, Saint John the Baptist, Saint Sebastian and Saint George, works produced in lost-wax cast bronze from the originals that Dalí worked on during the 1970s.
