It deals with the Ancient History of the city of Alicante.

The aim of the course is to update all the knowledge that archaeology has provided in recent decades, both in the old town of Alicante and, above all, in the Tossal de les Basses and the Tossal de Manises. The most significant contribution has been the identification of the toponym of Ákra Leukéa Carthaginian settlement mentioned in ancient sources, with the site of Tossal de Manises, in a period prior to the Roman municipality of Lucentum. In addition to the updated study of the Lucentum Roman, will deal with the interesting subject of Laqant from the Late Antique period. The Torres de la Huerta towers will also be discussed, as well as the development and museumisation of the Tossal de Manises archaeological site.

We are convinced that getting to know their closest heritage is a very important objective, both for primary and secondary school pupils. Knowing the history is essential to understand and value the heritage, what we are and what we were, not only of great events but also, as in the case of this exhibition, of their immediate environment. With this course, teachers will learn about research activity by going to the sources.

With this course we want to demonstrate MARQ's commitment to recovery and enhancement for the benefit of society as a whole, focusing on the idea of schoolchildren, who are ultimately the future.
