The Diputación de Alicante participates for for the eighth consecutive year in the events scheduled for the occasion of the International Museum Day (IMD)that this edition will be held online due to the exceptional situation caused by Covid-19. At MUBAG, the MARQ and the Alicante Institute of Culture exhibition centres run by the City Council, the University, Aguas de Alicante and The Ocean Race will once again join forces.
Following the success of last year's event, with 16,193 visitors and the involvement of 37,000 museums from 158 countries and territories, the organisers hope that, despite the change of format, participation will be massive. Every year since 1977, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) organises the IWD, a unique commemoration for the museum community. The aim is to raise awareness about the importance of these centres for the cultural exchangethe enrichment and development of mutual understanding and its contribution to cooperation and peace between peoples.
Under the slogan "Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion", the International Museum Day 2020 #DIM2020 aims to become an international day for museums. meeting place to celebrate the diversity of perspectives that make up museum communities and staffas well as promoting tools for identifying and overcoming prejudice.
In addition, in the current widespread pandemic situation, the #DIM2020 will be held through the organisation of digital and online activities. For those wishing to organise activities in situ a three-day celebration is proposed as an alternative between the 14 and 16 November, coinciding with the Long Night of Museums, and the 74th anniversary of ICOM.

MUBAG
The MUBAG will celebrate the IWD with the activity "Gisbert at the click of a button". designed to allow the virtual visit to the museum from home through a 360º tour to the room dedicated to this painter to discover in detail the five canvases on display that cover his main pictorial genres: portraiture, mythology and history.. MARQ has prepared numerous digital activities and online to reflect on such important content as such as gender equality, climate justice, accessibility, and discrimination..
The programme of proposals starts with four short stories set in different historical epochs whose characters will address issues related to the importance of diversity and inclusion (this activity will also be carried out in sign language). In addition, and in order to achieve the objective of prioritising inclusion and taking diversity into account, a small guide to the museum and its sites in pictograms. An essential resource to facilitate cognitive accessibility.
A MARQ of friends will also be present with the different institutions with which the museum works to make the centre a more inclusive and accessible place. They will talk about their work virtually.
