The ONCE travelling exhibition can be visited at the MARQ until Sunday 26th February

 

 

 

 

     The travelling exhibition that celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Typhlological Museum which the ONCE has at its Madrid headquarters and which is located in the MARQ Library, will close its doors on Sunday 26 February.

      The exhibition showcases typhlological material that have been used or are used by blind people, such as a writing pattern with visual characters, a abacusa calculating machine or the Llorens Writing Bookdated 1872. It is worth noting that all the pieces have the titles in Braille and are provided with QR codes. in addition to beepconsThe exhibition brings together a series of beacons to facilitate the identification and localisation of nearby objects. An exhibition that brings together 31 pieces The collection includes paintings, photographs, sculptures and models, as well as utensils related to typhlology. In short, it is a collection that makes up a small "museum of objects and offers visitors art to see and touch, as well as works by people with severe visual impairment.

      The ONCE Typhlological Museum is a space conceived so that visitors can see and touch the pieces, although its idiosyncrasy is based on the fact that was born by decision of its users and is designed by them, tailored to their needs.. It showcases the organisation's cultural heritage and also hosts temporary samples and museum outreach through the travelling exhibition of its funds. All this with the aim of promoting and meeting the cultural needs of severely visually impaired people

      MARQ is currently carrying out the Put yourself in my shoes" campaign aimed at all schoolchildren, in which awareness-raising activities are carried out with the aim of bringing them closer to the reality of blind people. The aim of this exhibition is to educate respect for diversity as well as to enjoy broadening the senses.

      To date, the exhibition has been visited by around 2500 people.among which we find many groups related to accessibility and social responsibility such as members belonging to the ONCE of Alicante, deafblind people from ASOCIDE, members and relatives of APSA, young people from AODI, Community Social Centres, members of APCA and other associations.
