The people of Alicante give a warm welcome to the Mayas

More than 2,500 people have already visited the Archaeological Museum of Alicante to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Marq and to visit the international exhibition Mayas. The enigma of the lost cities.

This exhibition, made up of almost 200 pieces, takes us to the Central American jungle, the cradle of the Mayan culture, to show us temples and palaces that still hide mysterious secrets within their walls.

The Mayan civilisation based its economy on agriculture and trade, and its day-to-day life was governed by the accuracy of its calendars, the result of exceptional mathematical and astronomical knowledge.

The Marq wanted to share the complex and fascinating Mayan world with all the people of Alicante with a series of open days that will end on Sunday at 2pm.

In front of the plaque commemorating the inauguration of the Museum in 2002 by H.M. Queen Sofia, Alicante families such as the San Gregorio Cano and Tosao families wanted to immortalise this day and keep a beautiful memory of our anniversary.
