The programme "MARQ: Museum and memory against Alzheimer's" is aimed at bringing the contents of the MARQ closer to people with Alzheimer's disease in an initiative developed since 2014 by the C.V MARQ Foundation and the Alzheimer's Association of Alicante AFA, which aims to improve the quality of life of those suffering from this disease by stimulating memory through visits to the museum, enjoying the heritage on display and living new experiences in different environments to the usual ones.
This 6th edition ended on 6 June, with activities focusing on the two international exhibitions: "Etruscans. The Dawn of Rome" and "Gladiators. Heroes of the Coliseum". Having participated in the programme of this academic year 2021/22, 15 users of AFA Alicante, with a mild-moderate degree of impairment and aged between 60 and 90 years.
The programme designed by the teams of the Didactic and Accessibility Unit of the MARQ Foundation and the Neuropsychologist and Occupational Therapists of AFA Alicante, in this course that is now coming to an end, resumed its presence with 12 sessions, divided into guided visits to the temporary exhibitions on Monday mornings at the MARQ and didactic workshops on the subject at the AFA centre itself.
The excellent results of the programme encourage us to continue working on the contents of the next edition starting in October.
