MARQ and Cajamar to collaborate to facilitate access to the museum for people with functional disabilities

 

The President of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Luisa Pastorand the regional director of Cajamar Caja Rural in Alicante, Francisco Javier Ruizsigned this morning a collaboration agreement intended for to promote accessibility to the cultural services and activities offered by the MARQ for people with functional disabilities..

Pastor stressed that this agreement "allows us to continue working on different initiatives as part of our desire to make the contents and activities organised by the Archaeological Museum more accessible."which, he recalled, was recently awarded the ONCE Valencian Community Solidarity Award 2013 for its work in favour of the full normalisation and integration of people with functional disabilities.

The agreement includes the development of a comprehensive accessibility package which will promote the dissemination of MARQ's activities "and which offers great possibilities to the group of disabled people who have traditionally had difficulties in accessing knowledge and culture."said Ruiz.

The agreement will allow the continuation of the campaign of guided and dramatised tours in Sign Language or with the collaboration with the Alicante Down's Syndrome Association which includes specific visits to the Museum and the Roman site of Lucentum in the Tossal de Manises.

Likewise, thanks to the collaboration of Cajamar, projects such as "..." will continue.aMARQdrina one piece", which aims to promote the knowledge of a historical period through the archaeological object, "The stories of the MARQThe "Special Education" workshops, with which Special Education students study the different historical eras, or the "Archaeology for children"The programme is also aimed at special education teachers.

Finally, it also makes possible the continuity of the project that the MARQ carries out with the ASPALI Association, Asperger Association of Alicante, ".MARQ guides for a day"The aim of the project is to use the museum to foster social relationships and improve self-esteem among a group of boys with Asperger's syndrome between 13 and 18 years old who share a passion for history and archaeology.
