More than 30 teachers take part in the MARQ's Castle Course

This afternoon, the Teacher Training Workshops closed at the MARQ Library. Stone Guardians. The castles of Alicante (12th-15th centuries)These talks have provided a rigorous content base for teachers on the more than 230 fortifications and castles from the medieval period that are found in the province of Alicante, from the origin of their construction, their evolution over time, as well as the actions carried out to enhance their value. Throughout these 8 sessions, the defensive systems generated by these stone guardians have been analysed through their material remains, thus approaching a unique and exceptional cultural heritage that differentiates us from other territories and at the same time unites us to the existing systems in the Mediterranean arc.

An in-depth review of these structures has allowed the 33 teachers who attended this course to appreciate and highlight the importance of this unique cultural heritage in Alicante and its capacity to become a tourist, cultural and social value in itself. The final touch to these interesting conferences, directed by Doctor José Luis Menéndez, was provided by Doctor Juan Antonio Mira, with his lecture Castles as a tool for heritage interpretation.
