Halberd
Laderas del Castillo (Callosa de Segura) Furgús Collection Arsenic copper h: 16.6 cm; w: 8.4 cm; h: 0.8 cm Argaric Bronze 2,300 - 1,600 BC.
A metal halberd with a central rib and an indeterminable number of rivets (between two and five) to hold the hilt, the remains of the wood of which are preserved. It has a cloth cloth - possibly linen - attached to the surface of the blade, preserved thanks to the corrosion of the copper sulphides.
This type of piece is characteristic of the Argaric grave goods of the Early and Middle Bronze Age in the Southeast, and numerous examples have been found in the south of Alicante, especially at the sites of San Antón and Las Laderas del Castillo, excavated at the beginning of the 20th century by the Jesuit Julio Furgús.
