The MARQ's programme of temporary exhibitions is an unbeatable opportunity for young people to visit collections from other museums, not only from our province, but also from other national and international museums, such as the British Museum, which allow them to learn about other cultures through their material remains.
We share the same objectives with the British Museum, and proof of this is the exhibition "The Beauty of the Body. Art and thought in Ancient Greece" with 125 masterpieces of Greek Art, which together with our own production "Greek Traces in the Iberian Contestania" have a clear interest and didactic vocation by highlighting the concept of beauty of this civilisation, origin of our current western culture, allowing the youngest not only to discover this valuable heritage but also the keys to our thought.
Therefore we want all the activities planned for this summer to revolve around Ancient Greece, an invitation for the youngest to Beauty and the origins of our civilisation.
The campaign "Summer at MARQ 2009" will run from 30 June to 28 August 2009, from Tuesday to Friday.

ACTIVITIES
Each day of the week we will see one of the rooms of the Temporary Exhibitions with animated visits and using the didactic guides as material.
In the didactic workshops we will discover:
- The secrets of Greek pottery.
- The making of the sculpture
- The Olympic winner's crown.
We will play games like the children of Ancient Greece: Tabas and Cotabo.
We will celebrate OUR MARQ OLYMPICS by awarding the winner with THE OLIVE CROWN OF OLIMPIA.
One of the star activities this summer is a DRAWING COMPETITION: "THE TABAS" for participants to put their creativity and imagination to the test. They will have to "recompose" one of the incomplete sculptures on display in the MARQ galleries by imagining it in its original composition. The scene consisted of two children playing cards.
The awards have two levels:
- 8 to 10 years
- 11 to 14 years old
There is a first prize for each age group, sponsored by CAJAMURCIA and consisting of:
- A weekend in a hotel in La Manga del Mar Menor for the winner and his/her parents, and in addition,
- A trip to the Roman Theatre of Cartagena for the class of the school in which the winner is enrolled.
The deadline for submission of originals will be from 30 June 2009 to 28 August 2009.
The works will be handed in at the Gabinete Didáctico MARQ.
Plza Doctor Gómez Ulla S/N 03013 Alicante.
The posters that take part in the competition will be exhibited at the MARQ.
The publication of the winner will be made public 15 days after the deadline.
The prizes will be awarded in the MARQ Assembly Hall.
In the ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARKS the children will have to find the archaeological objects (reproductions) that show the Greek influence in our lands and then answer a series of questions about it.
All participants in the MARQ Summer Campaign will receive a CD courtesy of CAJAMURCIA.
